The Latest Tips on How to Use LinkedIn to Get a Job
The Latest Tips on How to Use LinkedIn to Get a Job LinkedIn is the #1 place job seekers go to get a job, and Iâve written many articles about how to use LinkedIn to get a job, including How to Get Job Offers â" Not Just Interviews â" With Your LinkedIn Profile, How to Find a Job Using LinkedIn, 100% Complete LinkedIn Profiles: A Dilemma for Job Seekers, and How to Make LinkedIn Work for You. This article will cover the newer aspects of how to use LinkedInâs features in your job search so you can be an all-star LinkedIn job seeker. How to Showcase Your Consecutive Positions LinkedIn used to require separate entries for each of your positions at the same company. This created problems because on first glance, it might look like you were at the company for a short time, whereas you were actually there for many years in consecutive positions. We used to handle this issue by creating one entry for the full span of years, followed by separate entries for each position. This workaround is no longer needed! Now, when you add consecutive positions at the same company, LinkedIn groups them into a single section to show your progression. So instead of showing as several different entries for the same company, the company will only be listed once, and your subsequent positions will appear in that section. Hereâs an example: This is one change that I view as a vast improvement over the old system. Iâm celebrating! How to Use LinkedInâs New Jobs Tools: How You Match, Easy Apply, Job Title Highlights, and Salary Insights How You Match LinkedIn will tell you what skills you have that match the ones sought for the position. To the right of the job, look for the âHow you matchâ section: This section pulls the skills indicated as required by the job poster and matches them with the skills listed in your profile. If you match 80% of the skills, youâre probably a good candidate for the position â" you are qualified and also have some room to grow. Easy Apply If you are serious about applying to a particular job, use the âApply/Easy Applyâ or âSaveâ feature: Once you save a job, you can find it from your jobs page: âEasy Applyâ is offered by businesses that use an applicant tracking system (ATS) to filter applications. LinkedIn hosts the application, âenabling you to pre-fill information from your profile to make it easier and faster to apply.â Hereâs what the application looks like: Want to know the history of all the jobs youâve applied for? Click on the âApplied Jobsâ tab. For more on how to work with Applied Jobs, see the LinkedIn Help article, Viewing Jobs Youâve Applied for on LinkedIn. Job Title Highlights One important aspect of how to use LinkedIn to get a job is to research your connections who have a similar job title to the one youâre seeking. They will be great sources of information! To search connections with similar titles, go to your Homepage and enter your desired title in the search bar. Then click on âPeople.â Youâll see that the People option is now a drop down â" select âAll.â Now youâll see a list of LinkedIn members with the title youâre searching for, top companies hiring for the position, and similar job titles. Salary Insights Interested in jobs similar to yours that pay more? For a limited time, LinkedIn will share those opportunities with you. To turn on this feature, called Salary Insights, go to the Jobs tab and click on âLinkedIn Salary.â Scroll down to âGet the full pictureâ and click on âSee more insights.â Complete the information and youâll see how you rank in salary with others in your position. Youâll see top paying locations and clicking on these will provide a list of hiring companies in that area. Take advantage of this free tool while it lasts. Interview Prep Help The interview can be the most intimidating aspect of job search. Even if you know everything about how to use LinkedIn to get a job, once you get to the interview, LinkedIn will not be there with you. Or will they? LinkedIn has created a way for you to familiarize yourself with the most common interview questions and shares tips and sample answers from career experts around the globe. This feature is only available to Premium members and has not been rolled out fully as of 7/31/19. For more about using this tool, read LinkedInâs Blog article, âIntroducing New Tools to Help You Prep for Your Next Interview,â as well as âAccessing the Interview Preparation Feature.â Now that you know about all the new tips on how to use LinkedIn to get a job, how about setting aside 2 hours a day to use LinkedIn to its full potential? Mexicos War for Independence Essay Example For Students
Mexicos War for Independence Essay IntroductionMexico is the northernmost country of Latin America. It lies just south of the United States. The Rio Grande forms about two-thirds of the boundary between Mexico and the United States. Among all the countries of the Western Hemisphere, only the United States and Brazil have more people than Mexico. Mexico City is the capital and largest city of Mexico. It also is one of the worlds largest metropolitan areas in population. Hundreds of years ago, the Indians of Mexico built large cities, developed a calendar, invented a counting system and used a form of writing. The last Indian empire in Mexico, the Aztec, fell to Spanish invaders in 1521. For the next 300 years, Mexico was a Spanish colony. The Spaniards took Mexicos riches, but they also introduced many changes in farming, government, industry and religion. The descendants of the Spaniards became Mexicos ruling class. The Indians remained poor and uneducated. During the Spanish colonial period, a third group of people developed in Mexico. These people, who had both Indian and white ancestors, became known as Mestizos. Today, the great majority of Mexicans are Mestizos, and they generally take great pride in their Indian ancestry. A number of government programs stress the Indian role in Mexican culture. In 1949, the government made an Indian the symbol of Mexican nationality. The war for independence is sometimes considered a revolutionary war. It is not, however. The war for independence was fought to end colonial rule. The war was based on politics and a separation of powers. In this essay I will start from the rising discontentment amongst the indigenous population and how the higher ranking classes exploited their failures for their own societal class gain in a system where they have always been favored more by societal leaders. Once New Spain settled in its new territory, inner cores were created as part of the system. New Spain, from now on, would be under direction of the mother country Spain. Its colonial system would be entrenched in the new colony and therefore, its economy would strive to gain profit and make Spain richer and stronger. The economy was based on agriculture, ranching, mining, industry, and commerce. The majority of labor that would go into doing these jobs would be from the indigenous people, or Indians. Although some Indians were paid decent wages, most were treated unfairly or poorly. They worked long, hard hours. While working in the mines, the Indians would suffer from the dust and fumes inhaled in the damp, dark shafts. Countless Indians died from having worked there. The ranching industry in the north would gain most of its production from the cultivation of large amounts of livestock through labor from the Indians. Haciendas, with again the labor of Indians, would provide through out New Spain agricultural needs such as fruits, vegetables, and grains introduced by the Spaniards. Without slaves and forced labor, who was to carry out the necessary takes of labor? (Leone, B, 1996). The answer would be the Indians. They would go on to build New Spains lower aspect of the economy. Soon after many other resisting Indians gave in to their new occupants demands for labor and started to work for them. Shortly thereafter, some Indians found refuge. During the earlier years of conquest, the colonial church was still in-tact. The church organization had created two distinct branches, secular and regular clergy. This would then spread around the word of Christianity to save souls. By assimilating this belief into the population of the Indians, the Indians would then get acculturated into thinking their way of living was evil and to abandon their beliefs and always praise the lord. As a result, many Indians found shelter in the hands of their newfound religion and the gui dance of their priests. There were frequent disputes between the friars and the priests who would argue in favor of the Indians to the Spaniards describing the poor treatment to the Indians. At times disputes would end in violence which would ripple throughout other areas in Mexico. Although there were restrictions in the organization of the church which kept Indians from converting, the main one was the Inquisition. Under the rule of Spain, churches were to investigate culprits who didnt follow the rules and such culprits were given a hefty punishment. This would keep many on their toes. Many Indians were still secure in their new religion but found it hard to deal. .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb , .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .postImageUrl , .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb , .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb:hover , .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb:visited , .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb:active { border:0!important; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb:active , .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue2d7d72f60046f7274418feb006c81fb:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Women Should Never Be Trusted EssayIndians were always to remain at the bottom of the social status. Actually, Indian women and children were to be the last ones to be recognized, or were not recognized at all. Mestizos, those of Indian descent and another race, were the next level up. Those born in Mexico but of full-blooded Spanish descent were called Criollos. The highest of all would be the Spaniards. In this structure of power and rank, the only way for one to rise to the top would be through the military. Otherwise, if you were born Indian, you were destined to be a laborer. If one was lucky enough to become a priest or a member of the church, becoming educated would be a better way to climb into politics and gain knowledge. With the economy in the mother country, Spain, in shambles due to wars, Spain decided they would look towards their colonies in search of financial benefit. The Spanish would borrow heavily from individuals and institutions in the colony to pay for its involvement in European conflicts (Stefoff, R, 1993). This made many upset, but it would not cause the Indians to revolt until the reform of the church occurred. Spain ordered the expulsion of the Jesuits, who helped in educating and converting many Indians. The Criollos, who were educated by the Indians, became angered as well. It was true that dependency of the colonists to the mother country remained a fundamental tenet of the imperial system. Soon the change had begun to grow increasingly upsetting to many. The rich grew richer and the poor grew poorer. As for the Criollos, who were second to Spaniards in New Spain, they were the first to bring up the idea of independence from the throne after the Mulattos overthrew the powers in Haiti. So they decided to follow in the Haitians footsteps while maintaining the same social structure that was already in place. Soon race wars between dark-skinned Indians and light-skinned Criollos and Gachupins would bring upon rebellions against each other. Soon after the colonies got word of Spains defeat by the French, the colonies sought to gain freedom from Spain. The Viceroy Jose de Iturrigaray was forcibly taken out of his palace and sent to Spain where Peter Garibay would take his place. This would result in more confusion in New Spain. Officials in Mexico City would here of conspiracies to overthrow the government but once they heard of one in Queretaro, they would come in contact with a growing attack. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla (Hidalgo) is known as one of the main leaders who guided the peasants, Indians, to independence from Spanish rule. He was of Criollo descent and studied at the Jesuits College and became a priest in 1778. He came into contact with a few others and organized a plan to battle for independence. The plot leaked out and information came to Hidalgo that Mexico City knew about his plan. On September 13, 1810, although the intended date was December 8, he gave his Grito de Dolores speech to the Indians and Mestizos for the start of independence. His attack on San Miguel was swift to the point where it was uncontrollable. Days later, after the hysteria calmed down, more battles broke in other areas. His quest would lead him to towards the hills looking down towards the capital. What happened next, says the text, is that once they decided to retreat and leave, they were soon caught by officials of Mexico City. Hidalgo was executed for his actions on July 31 the follow ing year. Criollos would recognize the failed effort as what Hidalgo had put into the fight for independence. Soon after congress formally declared independence and issued several series of principles that should be incorporated into a new constitution such as; slavery and all caste systems should be abolished and all judicial torture should be abolished. The independence was not fully established until the Plan de Iguala came into effect through Lieutenant Augustin de Iturbide. ConclusionFollowing the wars of Independence, the military would be very much involved in the political processes of government. More civil wars and national wars would occur throughout Mexico in the years following their break from Spain. The Mexican identity myth would arise from a social contentment that what the people or Indians would like to be referred to as once New Spain found its countrys name, Mexico. Nothing changed once the country became independent, in terms of social status. The Indians and Mestizos sti ll remained as the lower classes in the societal hierarchy. .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c , .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .postImageUrl , .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c , .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c:hover , .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c:visited , .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c:active { border:0!important; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c:active , .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u9a3e9b486b8cb28cf41e909b80f4685c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Simpsons Roots Of Democracy EssayBibliographyLeone, B. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is widely supported by empirical evidence for treatment in a wide variety of psychological disorders (Tan, 2007, p. We will write a custom essay sample on Use of Prayer and Scripture in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page 01). The article discuses how to approach biblical Christian values in therapy and how to incorporate those approaches into CBT. Tan discusses the history of behavioral therapy throughout the years and the two main components of mindfulness. The two components of mindfulness include self regulation of attention and adopting a specific orientation (Tan, 2007). Tan then describes eight key features of a biblical Christian approach to CBT. The key features of this biblical approach include: agape love; unresolved past issues; spiritual meaning; the use of biblical truth when approaching organic problems; Holy Spiritââ¬â¢s discernment in bringing about healing; make use of community resources; use techniques that are biblical; use research before making definitive statements about the superiority of CBT (Tan, 2007, p. 102). Tan goes onto describe the two types of integration: explicit and implicit. Explicit integration deals with spiritual or religious issues in therapy, and uses spiritual resources in the therapeutic process (Tan, 2007, p. 68). Implicit integration does not incorporate religious or spiritual aspects into the therapeutic process. Tan describes his approach as explicit and has used this approach to reach a clientele with problems that include: phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, stress, burnout, anger control problems, marital and family problems, adjustment disorder, depression , bipolar disorder, epilepsy, pain, hypertension, and religious conflicts and issues (Tan, 2007). Tan goes onto explain how he assesses whether an individual will benefit from the use of prayer and scripture in therapy. In 1992 Tan developed a seven step model that has played an integral part in the healing of his clients. Tan believes that the model can be modified when necessary but that prayer and scripture cannot be used for clients that are psychotic or severely disturbed. The rest of the article explains subtle ways in which Tan incorporated biblical aspects into the therapy session. He notes that the appropriate use of Scripture in a Christian approach to CBT from a counselor who is sensitive to the needs of the client can benefit Christian clients through the use of scripture and prayer in the therapeutic process (Tan, 1996). In closing Tan states that prayer and scripture can be effective in a Christian approach to CBT and should be used when clients give informed consent for such an approach to be taken. Interaction My initial response to this article was finally. Finally Christians are developing empirically supported studies that support the notion of prayer, scripture and biblical aspects into the treatment process. This study I believe will open many doors to effective treatment and also help with people in their reconciliation with the Lord. I was happy knowing that this author stepped out of the box and approached this issue that has been traditionally overlooked by the scientific community. As believers we understand that truth comes from the Lord and that scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness 2 Timothy 3: 16. Hebrews 4: 12 states ââ¬Å"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heartâ⬠. From this passage we can see that Godââ¬â¢s word brings life and can break down the many barriers we put up. As counselors we come into contact with many people who are burdened, unhappy, and ultimately broken. We need to incorporate scripture into every aspect of our lives especially when dealing with broken people. Psalm 147:3 says ââ¬Å"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their woundsâ⬠. As counselors we can do our best to help our clients but ultimately God is the sole comforter and healer and we need to call upon him when serving the broken world. Understanding the importance of incorporating scripture and prayer has lead me to gain further understanding into this field and thus has encouraged me to expand my knowledge. I believe the design of the study was appropriate and has offered some great insight into the world of therapy with the incorporated Christian approaches. I do believe however that further investigations must be considered and further research and study will prove to be beneficial as this approach is fairly new to the scientific community. Application As a once broken individual myself I have first-hand knowledge of the importance of prayer and scripture in the healing process. It was only in communication with the Lord that I heard of his love and plans for my life. As I meditated on scripture I became more Christ like and began to feel his word breathe life into my broken soul. As a future counselor I believe it is important that I incorporate God, prayer, scripture, and biblical principles into all aspects of my life, including the counseling session. I truly believe that God will use me as a channel to serve between the healer and the broken. And it is with this concept in mind that I will seek the Holy Spirits wisdom and discernment in every counseling session. In order to remain culturally sensitive one must obtain consent from the patient in order to gain the right to incorporate scripture and prayer into the therapeutic relationship. Once consent is gained I would start the session with prayer asking for me to be sensitive to hear Godââ¬â¢s voice and for the Holy Spirit to lead the therapy process as well as open the patient to healing and comfort. Above all I would pray that Godââ¬â¢s love may be felt in the therapeutic relationship and that he fill me with his love for this client. I would also offer any scriptural references that can be beneficial in helping the client overcome their struggle as well as offer any other resources in the community that may be helpful. I will ask the client to meditate on the truth gained from scripture until our next session. I would close the session with a prayer of thanksgiving for what is revealed and the truth that can be found in God that will set us free from the troubles of this world. Use of Prayer and Scripture in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy free essay sample Use of Prayer and Scripture in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy can be found in the Journal of Psychology and Christianity. The author, Stan Yang-Tan, covers the apposite use of applying prayer and scripture to the 30-year-old process of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (p. 101). With an array of psychological disorders, the availability of treatments is generous. However, CBT is methodically supported for the treatment of many psychological disorders. Through a purposeful integration of morality, Yang-Tan illustrates the life-changing power of prayer and scripture in Christian CBT. This article provides a momentous synopsis of behavioral therapy that consists of three major waves, traditional behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and relatively contextualistic approaches (p. 101). The third wave of contextualistic approaches encompasses Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Congitive Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Therefore, the expansion of CBT generates a projected mindfulness and acceptance through a two-component model. Yang-Tan proposes the two-component model of mindfulness, implicates self-controlled concentration on present conditions and espousing a distinctive orientation through openness, curiosity, and acceptance. However, making an irrefutable declaration about the advantage of CBT should include implementing a self-developed biblical model comprised of a process based on spiritual emphasis and influence. A counselor who adopts this model can integrate the reliability on the Holy Spirit through the approach of implicit or explicit integration in therapeutic circumstances. The appropriate use of the healing power of prayer and the intervention of scripture can be an effective part of CBT. Prayer and Scripture will therefore be key factors in this therapeutic process of healing and recovery. Reflection My initial reaction to the use of scripture and prayer in CBT was how necessary Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) must be for complete and effective treatment within CBT. Both of these treatments are rooted in Christian spirituality and allow the client to recognize their current circumstances and develop an outlook that will help keep an open and focused mind on results. Through the approaches of ACT and MBCT, prayer and scripture inevitably follow as a source of methodological rigor. Prayer is simply talking to God and is therefore a means of communication. Praying on behalf of another person or self (Intercessory prayer), praying in meditation (Contemplative Prayer), and praying specifically and listening and awaiting Godââ¬â¢s response (Inner Healing Listing Prayer) are beneficial to the use of prayer in treatment. The Bible is the greatest example of Godââ¬â¢s powerful words. Scripture offers comfort, clarity, correction, character change, cleansing, conviction, and healing (p. 108). For clients who trust in Godââ¬â¢s word as the ultimate authority, it is imperative to assess the purpose and objective for using scripture. Knowing what God has to say about a clientââ¬â¢s circumstances vs. what the clientââ¬â¢s faith or church has to say forms cognitive thinking within the client. By referring biblical teachings and truths, the client can learn how to restructure flawed rational and irrational beliefs that do not support the efficiency of Christian approaches. The concept of ACT and MBTC is such a compelling method of treatment and respectfully governs the character for the therapist or counselor. Understanding how prayer and scripture affects the lives of clients will provide a strong foundation for counsel. Clients will not only understand how to personally apply prayer and scripture on a daily basis, but most importantly, worship God. My interest in researching how to Implicitly Integrate prayer and scripture in therapy peaked upon realizing the explicit integration appears to be more approachable. I do not want to limit my own competency, nor the benefit of the client. Gaining knowledge and skill in applying a method that is not as commonly used as Explicit Integration Therapy opens the window to use subtle biblical emphasis without the client feeling bombarded or perturbed. Application In a counseling career, I intend to rely on God as the sole means for guidance and understanding from the author of understanding, guidance, and counseling. Although I plan to use more explicit integration, I will always start the session with a new client by assessing the client and determining the necessity of prayer and scripture. Upon establishing the history, faith, spiritual practices, problems, and goals, I will take into account all information, and choose an approach suitable for the client. Although prayer and scripture offer healing and understanding, it is not necessary to use in each session. I would love to openly offer to use prayer and scripture through Explicit Integration, as this method is more aligned with direct healing and application from God. I want to help identify the exact needs of clients and seek the supplemental scripture to help work through the given circumstances. For instance, a client may need to find the balance of taking care of their personal life and own wellbeing versus meeting all of the needs of their family. Godââ¬â¢s word tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, ââ¬Å"I know the plans I have for you, plans not to harm you, but to give you hope and a futureâ⬠. Prayer and meditation (Contemplative Prayer) on Godââ¬â¢s word fills the mind with Godââ¬â¢s enduring love and constant reminder of His grace, mercy and encouragement. The more cognizant I can help the client become of Godââ¬â¢s word, the more transformed and renewing of the mind will take place. Jesusââ¬â¢ love light will begin to form changes and the client will soon witness the power of Jesus Christ in their circumstances and the proactive change that took place.

Serial Killers Essays - Murder, Psychopathy, Crime, Serial Killer
Serial Killers Essays - Murder, Psychopathy, Crime, Serial Killer Serial Killers I didnt want to hurt them, I only wanted to kill them. This is a quote from David Berkowitz, A.K.A., the Son of Sam. David Berkowitz and all of the other serial killers tend to think in unique ways. This paper will talk to you about characteristics, motives, different phases, and the correlation between behavior and aggression. Serial killers like everyone else have certain characteristics that set them apart. To be considered a bonafied serial killer you must murder at least three to four people with a cooling off period between each murder. These killings are usually one on one and are repetitive, occurring with greater or lesser frequency over time (Characteristics of Serial Murder). Serial killers usually dont have a connection with the victim and they very rarely if ever have a rational motive. The serial killer likes to murder people in the same pattern, usually with a high degree of overkill. This degree of overkill sets them a part from different serial killers. Serial murderers also have different motives for their murders. One of the most obvious is that they turn to murdering for a sense of power (Forwood). For this sense of power they usually attack societies weakest members and those weaker than themselves (Forwood). This includes the homeless, impaired, and usually the young of both sexes. When they kill the homeless and impaired they are usually acting on the Missionary Motive. This is when they feel that it is their responsibility to rid society of its unwanted inhabitants. There are also Visionary killers which are usually instructed to kill by the voices that are in their head (schizophrenia). The last type of these motives is the Hedonist. They kill because it brings them the pleasure to do so. This group is separated into three sub-categories which are lust killers, thrill killers and gain killers. Lust killers kill for sexual pleasure. They are usually sexually underdeveloped and they kill for sexual gratification. Thrill killers kill people because it brings them a rush. These types of hedonists usually kill a lot more because they are addicted to this rush. Gain killers always kill people for some type of gain. This is usually money but it can also be something like a job promotion. Another point of a Serial Killer is that their mind is constantly going through one of their seven phases. The first of these phases is the Aura Phase. This is the part where the killer daydreams about death and destruction. After awhile these demented fantasies usually have the urge to be acted upon. This leads into the second stage which is the Trolling Phase. In the Trolling Phase the serial killer tries to find the perfect victim for their needs. They usually tend to look in school yards or lovers lanes or even red light districts. This might go on for hours days and sometimes even months, until the perfect victim will be found . This will begin the Wooing Phase. Serial killers usually act very debonair to get their victims to trust them. After the Wooing Stage comes the Capture Stage. This is where the killer reveals what he is. He may draw you into his car where theres no door handle for you to get out. This is disturbingly fun for them and is included in their sick sadistic game. Then comes the climax, the Murder Stage. They may just decide to kill you, but sometimes, they will decide to torture you to death, try to revive you on the brink of death to torture you more (Scott). The sixth stage is the Totem Stage. This phase is where the killer will take a memoir of you. It might include your jewelry or clothes or even a piece of your body. After this, comes the seventh and final phase which is Depression. There is great emotional let down for the killer. They may even become so depressed as to attempt suicide. But sooner or later they will start day dreaming more and this whole cycle will keep repeating itself until the killer is either caught or dies (Characteristics of Serial Murder). There is also some correlation between behavior and aggression in serial killers. This means that as a child, serial killers experience the same childhood difficulties. Nearly all serial killers have gone through one of the Terrible Triad. The Terrible Triad includes bedwetting, sadistic abuse of animals and pyromania. Many serial killers as
